March 23 – April 4: Koh Pha Ngan and Ko Tao Island

March 23 – 31: Ko Pha Ngan Island

We decided we needed to get our health back together, so we checked ourselves into a 7 day detox retreat on Ko Pha Ngan Island. Ok so we THOUGHT it was like a healthy food detox, but it turned out to be 7 day FASTING detox LOL. It was a pretty rigorous schedule of herbs, broth, carrot juice, and psyllium fibre shakes, it was HARD, but I’m glad we did it.

Thailand has these full moon parties which are pretty famous, TURNS OUT they are held on the same island we are on now, and TURNS OUT the next one is the DAY we check out from detox LOL. So of course we’re doing that.

The full moon party was cool, it was HUGE. Thousands of people on the beach and lots of different dj’s. I knew I would not be able to live with myself if I drank the DAY after finishing that detox, so we didn’t drink and still had an awesome time.

April 1 – 4: Ko Tao Island

Today we headed over to Ko Tao Island. Tao means turtle in Thai, so it’s called Turtle Island because there are lots of sea turtles! Right beside it is the tiny Nang Yuan Island, which has some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world. We took a water taxi over and went snorkeling, I’ve never seen ocean water so clear and blue like that in my life! All kinds of corals and tropical fish. I didn’t take any pics that day because we only brought stuff we could leave on the beach while we were in the ocean. But it was something I’ve always wanted to see!

The heat is actually kicking my ass, I never thought I would say that! I’ve been feeling pretty sick around food so just trying to drink lots of water and vitamin drinks.

Our hostel is really cool, it’s a bit of a walk from downtown, but it’s in the jungle with a nice outdoor hammock area, dogs and cats to play with, there’s even a cat who lives in our dorm room and likes to sleep in my bed. It’s awesome to hear all the jungle sounds at night.

  1. Thanks for the update, we hadn’t heard from you for some time and being kidnapped onto some Asian freighter came to mind.

You girls are looking ” thinner ” since India …and after your detox …and various stomach upsets…. I hope it’s smooth sailing from now on. ( but not on a freighter ! )

Finally …some pictures of cats…but they sure look thinner than my American Shorthair Classic Silver Tabbies – Hudson & Huxley ( nicknames Fatsome & Flotsome ) …

While over there I would be a bit leery and suspicious if any soup translates to ” Cat Tail soup ” …thus explaining the mysterious disappearance of cat tails.

Once again…love your photos… they somehow really depict local life in an artistic way.

Stay safe…stay well…thank goodness it looks like there will be no neeeeed for any rescue missions.

    1. Hahaha Thanks Gerry!! 😀 I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I ate cats! And then I would have to change my blog tagline to “Eating cats all around the world” and that would be very sad.. hahahaha Hope you are doing well too!! -Amanda

  2. Oh too bad you didn’t take my under water camera for that snorkeling day hey!! That would be cool to see. Mind you I bet we can google pics when you get home and you can show me what you saw.
